We re-reviewed this chip for the launch, using the newest games, drivers, firmwares, and GPU, and while it is functionally similar to the original 5800X3D, AMD did have to make changes to the innovative 3D V-Cache to bring this processor back into production. The $350 asking price is high relative to competing chips if you are building a new system, making other options preferable, but it is hands-down the best upgrade for those on an AM4 system.
