EA Sports’ College Football 27 has released its quarterback rankings. While Texas Longhorns signal caller Arch Manning has the largest Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal in college football, estimated at around $5.4 million annually, this does not translate into him being ranked as the best QB in the game. Manning is tipped to be a fierce rival for the Heisman Trophy but doesn’t make EA Colelge Football 27’s top five QBsGettyIn fact, Manning – a predicted Heisman Trophy contender next season – hasn’t even made the top five, and is tied for sixth place with University of Miami’s Darian Mensah with a 91 overall rating. In the 2025 season, Manning was touted as one of the most hyped QBs of 2026 and made 13 appearances for the Longhorns. There, he completed 61.4 percent of his passes for 3,163 yards, 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Despite leading Texas to a 10-3 win record (6-2 in the SEC), his numbers alone were not enough for Texas to secure a berth in the College Football Playoff, which could perhaps explain as to why he ranks lower than some of the other quarterbacks in EA Sports’ rankings. The top five that have been ranked by EA above Manning, though, is as follows: T4. CJ Carr – Notre Dame – 92 OVRNotre Dame’s omission from the CFP last season was highly contentious, especially after having been finalists the season before. Carr led the Fighting Irish to 10 straight wins last seasonGettyCJ Carr was a huge reason why the Fighting Irish won 10 straight games, firing 2,741 passing yards for 24 touchdowns to just six interceptions in his first season as a starter. Without running backs Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price in the offense next season, following their departure to the NFL, the expectation is that Carr will take on a slightly heavier workload in the passing game. How that will look next season, though, remains to be seen, though there is some optimism that he could enter Heisman Trophy conversations should he make the jump. T4. Jayden Maiava – USC – 92 OVRTied with Carr is that of Jauden Maiava, who has been lauded by some to have a breakout season in 2026 due to his rapid development under USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley. Maiava is considered one of the most underrated QBs in the countryGettyIn fact, FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt ranked the 22-year-old as No. 7 of his list of top 10 college QBs for next year, in which he called Maiava “one of the more underrated quarterbacks in the country.“This came after a 2025 campaign in which he completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 3,711 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also led the nation in completions of passes that were of 25 yards or more. But it was his jump up in development from his freshman season at UNLV to his first year learning Riley’s offense as the backup to Miller Moss which has got people talking, having emerged as of the Big Ten’s top offensive playmakers. 3. Trinidad Chambliss – Ole Miss – 93 OVRTrinidad Chambliss won his NCAA eligibility battle to return to Ole Miss for a sixth season – his second season with the Rebels – back in March. Chambliss has been cleared to return for a second season at Ole Miss after an appeal over his NCAA eligibilityGettyNow, EA Sports has ranked the 23-year-old a top-three quarterback in the game, giving him a 93 overall rating. Chambliss was one of football’s biggest breakout stories last season, after throwing for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdown passes to just three interceptions as Ole Miss reached the CFP semi-finals, albeit narrowly losing out to Carson Beck and the Miami Hurricanes in a 31-27 defeat. The SEC newcomer of the year winner has come a long way from playing Div II football at Ferris State, where he won two national championships. But Chambliss is hoping to spearhead the Rebels one step further next season under new head coach Pete Golding, who took over from Lane Kiffin following his abrupt departure to LSU before the CFP began. 2. Julian Sayin – Ohio State – 94 OVRThe Ohio State Buckeyes are regarded as one of the top teams in college football, just two years removed from winning their ninth national championship in program history. Sayin is the youngest QB in the top five of EA Sports’ College Football 27 rankingsGettyJulian Sayin played backup to Pittsburgh Steelers QB Will Howard that season, but showcased in 2025 why he is one of the very best in Div I football. In 14 games for the Buckeyes last season, Sayin completed a whopping 77 percent of his passes for 3,610 yards and 32 touchdowns, firing just eight interceptions. While it helps that he had an elite receiving corps, including that of Carnell Tate – the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft – Sayin’s accuracy with the football is second-to-none, seeing him finish third for the 2025 Heisman Trophy. Still only 20-years-old, there is a wide expectation that Sayin will take yet another leap in his development, especially with wide receiver Jeremiah Smith still on the roster. 1. Dante Moore – Oregon – 95 OVRNot only is Dante Moore ranked the No. 1 quarterback in the game, but he is also one of the chosen cover athletes for the 2027 edition, alongside Miami wideout Malachi Toney and Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy. Oregon QB Dante Moore is vying for the coveted Heisman Trophy award in 2026GettyThe Oregon star, who has already seen his college begin to promote his Heisman Trophy bid in Japan, has seen his ranking soar from 84 overall to 95 overall in just one year. Furthermore, the Ducks boast a 91 offensive rating in the game, which is the best of any other team. This comes as little surprise with Moore having been projected to be a first-round pick had he declared for the 2026 NFL Draft after a sophomore campaign in which he fired 3,565 passing yards at a completion rate of 71.8 percent for 30 touchdowns to just 10 interceptions. Should his 2026 season with the Ducks go as planned, he may well be vying to go No. 1 overall, likely with that of Manning.
