One of the first of several exciting juveniles to represent Ballydoyle on a weekend that always matters, Abraham Lincoln (Wootton Bassett) came through his test in style to become the stable's latest TDN Rising Star, Presented by Hagyard.Sent off the 11-8 favourite for the six-furlong Keadeen Hotel Irish EBF Maiden which opened The Curragh's three-day Derby Festival, the €2.3million Arqana Deauville August graduate who represents Coolmore, Westerberg, Peter Brant and Jean-Pierre Dubois tracked the leading trio travelling easily under Ryan Moore. Sent to the front a furlong from home, the son of the Prix d'Arenberg winner and Cheveley Park-placed High Celebrity (Invincible Spirit) asserted for a cosy 1 3/4-length success from stablemate Haffner (Justify), with the Ciaran Murphy-trained 40-1 shot Jewel In A Crowd (Hello Youmzain) a neck away in third. This was the maiden in which the stable's subsequent top-level winners Puerto Rico and Victoria Road were beaten in recent times, so a winning introduction bodes well for the colt with the big name. Aidan O'Brien was making all the right noises afterwards. “He's a lovely horse who will be very comfortable going up to seven or a mile,” he said.“He was very green and had been working classily and Ryan said he got there very quick and was looking around.”“I'd say he's classy and he'd be very comfortable going for the Tyros and Futurity and those sort of races,” he added. “Haffner had a lovely run too and will love going up to seven–Wayne [Lordan] said to go to the maiden at Galway over seven, so that's where he'll go!”€2.3m buy Abraham Lincoln (Wootton Bassett) has all the entries and makes the perfect start for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore at @curraghrace pic.twitter.com/eP38a3Pp3t— Racing TV (@RacingTV) June 26, 2026The post ‘I’d Say He’s Classy’: O’Brien Keen On 2.3m Rising Star Abraham Lincoln appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
