I'm sorry you had to make that decision, your ex sounds like a cad. My ex was a smooth tongued good looking snake. My son is the only child he's ever fathered, that I know of (I have also heard that from his family). He went AWOL when I was pregnant and I tracked him down to let him know he was a father. He poured on all the "I'll love him til the day I die" sugary words (from afar) but I didn't see him for dust. My son was 7 years old when he met his father - the first and only time they spent time together. Once he found a (well off) woman prepared to marry him (when he was 38) he told me that he was "only interested in 'legitimate' child/ren now", if any resulted. None have (she's not maternal) but he's ignored my son since. Needless to say, my son has issues I'm unable to help him with. I can only hope that I've raised him to be a better man than his sperm donor is. I don't regret having him, but I do regret failing to see the red flags sooner.
