The adaptation is expected to adapt all three stories, which would make it the second Batman trilogy after Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight films.Warner Bros. Animation, DC Studios, and Warner Home Entertainment are set to host a special screening of the first film in the series during France’s Annecy Animation Festival this week.Credit: Warner Bros./DCWhat Is Batman: Knightfall?Batman: Knightfall adapts the comic book story of the same name best known for introducing the villain Bane and the moment where he physically and mentally breaks the Batman, as depicted in Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises (2012), which starred Christian Bale and Tom Hardy in those roles.DC’s synopsis for Knightfall reads:“When the mysterious behemoth known only as Bane frees Batman’s entire Rogue’s Gallery from Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is pushed to his mental and physical breaking point.”Now, the first teaser for Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall has arrived, as shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Warner Bros. Entertainment (@WBHomeEnt) June 22, 2026The post also tells us that the first official trailer for the film is expected to drop today, June 23.Per Comicbookmovie.com, it has also been confirmed that Batman: Knightfall Part 1 is R rated.The film is being directed by Jeff Wamester, known for his work on DC’s animated Tomorrowverse projects, including the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy, and written by Jeremy Adams. Rick Morales serves as supervising producer on the films, alongside producers Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau.
