Plays to be staged in chamber format to mark ‘Crazy’ Mohan’s birth anniversary - The HinduPublished - June 23, 2026 03:00 pm IST - CHENNAITo mark the 75th birth anniversary of playwright ‘Crazy’ Mohan, his troupe, Crazy Creations, has come up with the idea of staging his famous plays in a chamber format for smaller audiences, making the performances more interactive. Called Chamber of Humour, the first such performance will be held from 5.30 p.m. onwards on June 28 at the MDND office, 149/1, Luz Church Road, Mylapore. Tickets, priced at ₹500 each, will be available at the venue.According to actor Madhu Balaji, the idea was born during discussions with friends about performing for smaller audiences and staging shows specifically for them. “We drew inspiration from chamber concerts and light music programmes held in homes. We have titled it Chamber of Humour because it offers an hour and a half of pure humour in an intimate chamber setting. Our troupe is among the pioneers in staging plays at IT companies, apartment complexes, and even senior citizens’ homes.”“We are aiming to get closer to the audience. People want an opportunity to talk about the genius that ‘Crazy’ Mohan was. The performance will be for a small audience, seated in close proximity to the artists. After the show, they will have an opportunity to interact with the actors, which may not be possible in larger halls. It will be a no-set, no-mic performance,” he said.For details, call 98410 49386.Published - June 23, 2026 03:00 pm ISTSign in to unlock member-only benefits!Access 10 free stories every monthSave stories to read laterAccess to comment on every storySign-up/manage your newsletter subscriptions with a single clickGet notified by email for early access to discounts & offers on our products${ ind + 1 } ${ device }Last active - ${ la }
