NAIROBI, Kenya Jun 23 – Twelve suspects have been charged with arson, assault and malicious damage to property incident in Umoja area following last week’s chaos in Kuresoi North.According to police reports from Sirikwa Police Station, the criminal incident occurred on June 19, 2026 at around 9:30am.The suspects were presented before the Nakuru Criminal Court under where detectives sought custodial orders to allow completion of investigations.Investigators had requested the court to detain the suspects for 21 days, but the court declined the application and instead granted conditional release orders.The court directed that each accused person be released on a bond of Sh50,000 with one surety.Alternatively, the suspects may secure their release through a cash bail of Sh20,000 and provide one contact person.Additionally, the court ordered all accused persons to report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices in Kuresoi North every Monday, Wednesday and Friday until investigations are concluded.The matter is scheduled for mention on July 13, 2026.
