The cause of the fire is still being investigated.While the fire brigade reached the site in half an hour, no casualties were reported. However, the affected flat no. 2105 of SK Mahajan was damaged by then. Mahajan lives with his wife and two daughters, all aged reportedly 60, 54, 30 and 26 respectively.Residents expressed concerns about the apparent lack of a fire safety clearance and adequate firefighting infrastructure within the society, which is currently under insolvency and under the Interim Resolution Professional (IRP).Akhil Tiwari, a resident living two floors above on Tower 4 on the 23rd floor in flat no. 2304 told TOI that there are no firefighting systems in the society and no water pipes to address the issue.His apartment, which was on the side of the affected flat series) got spared from the flames even as smoke spread throughout the upper levels. Meanwhile, all residents of the affected flat managed to escape without injury, including one Mr Mataa and his family from flat 2305, two floors above the affected flat, which was also affected by the fire.In between flats on the 22nd and 24th floors of the same series (2205 and 2405) were vacant.While affected flatowner SK Mahajan was unreachable for comment, Udit Narayan, the society's maintenance in charge, told TOI that the fire brigade was notified immediately upon discovery of the incident. Narayan emphasised that his team attempted to control the flames using the society’s hydrant system and water supply from adjacent towers.
