Olivia Rodrigo is taking her love of live music one step further. This summer, the Grammy-winning singer is launching Daisy Chain Fields, a new one-day festival that brings together some of the biggest names in music for a lineup made up entirely of women artists and female-fronted acts.Set for August 29 in Irvine, California, the event arrives a few months after the release of Rodrigo’s third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. Along with Rodrigo herself, festivalgoers can expect performances from Chappell Roan, Doechii, Katseye, and more. Special guests Stevie Nicks, Karen O, and Sarah McLachlan are also slated to appear.View full post on InstagramThe festival has been years in the making for Rodrigo. Speaking to Good Morning America, she shared how the idea started: “When I pictured this festival, I had an image in my head of girls sitting underneath a tree, like, making little daisy chains or flower crowns or friendship bracelets.” Rodrigo also explained the meaning behind the festival’s name, saying, “I also just like the idea of a daisy chain, how we can all be individual links in this chain that is larger than the individual.”Rodrigo has also cited the groundbreaking Lilith Fair as a major source of inspiration. In fact, she revealed that McLachlan was the first person she contacted after deciding to move forward with the festival. “She’s a total trailblazer and an incredible artist and friend,” Rodrigo said.Beyond the music, Daisy Chain Fields has a philanthropic mission. Rodrigo told Pitchfork that all of the artists participating in the festival are performing without making a profit, with net proceeds dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls. She also shared her vision for the event, describing it as a “hippie girl, riot grrrl punk type of thing, like flower child meets riot grrrl.”“I just feel like we need something really positive to do and see, and young girls need awesome role models who are supporting other women and who are engaging in something that’s really joyful and musical and community-oriented,” she told the magazine. Here’s everything to know about attending Daisy Chain Fields.Where can I buy tickets?Fans can register for presale access through the official Daisy Chain Fields website.
