Tottenham Hotspur could receive a sizeable fee if Lucas Bergvall leaves the club this summer, but they won’t be able to claim the entire transfer pot.It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that Lucas Bergvall has informed Tottenham of his desire to leave this summer after growing concerned about the amount of game time he could receive next season. The development comes after Spurs stepped up their interest in midfield targets Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, with Roberto De Zerbi understood to want both players as part of his rebuild.Several leading European clubs, including AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea, have since registered an interest in the 20-year-old. Tottenham are reportedly seeking around £45m for Bergvall, a valuation that is understandable given he was voted the club’s Player of the Season just a year ago.Should a deal go through, however, Tottenham would not receive the entire transfer fee, thanks to their former chairman, Daniel Levy.Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramDjurgarden would benefit from Lucas Bergvall transferAccording to Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt, Bergvall’s former club Djurgarden are in line to receive a significant windfall if the midfielder leaves Tottenham this summer. The report states that the Swedish side would earn around 50 million kronor from a deal worth approximately €45m, suggesting they negotiated a sell-on clause worth around 10 per cent when Bergvall joined Spurs.Djurgarden had already banked around £8.1m when Daniel Levy fought off competition from Barcelona to sign the teenager in February 2024. Spurs also paid another £7.6m in add-ons once certain milestones were reached.Tottenham may have to sacrifice several more million pounds from a potential Bergvall sale this summer, despite making a healthy profit on the player.Lucas Bergvall keeps Tottenham future under wrapsBergvall himself has so far refused to give anything away regarding his Tottenham future.Speaking while away with Sweden at the World Cup, the 20-year-old was asked directly whether he plans on leaving Tottenham after the tournament.Bergvall replied: “Right now, I’m just trying to focus on the World Cup. Whatever happens after that, I’ll deal with it then. I’m fully focused on the World Cup.”When pressed further and asked whether his representatives had spoken to Tottenham, the midfielder again refused to elaborate, repeating that everything outside the World Cup could wait until after the competition. Those comments come after Bergvall spoke positively about De Zerbi earlier this summer, but stopped short of confirming that he sees himself as part of the Italian’s plans next season.
