Lucas Bergvall has been urged to resist the lure of Europe’s biggest clubs and remain at Tottenham Hotspur.Tottenham Hotspur youngster Lucas Bergvall has handed in a transfer request as he looks to leave Spurs after just two years at the club. The Sweden international is a player of enormous potential, and he showcased his quality in his first season at Spurs, sweeping up individual awards as the club clinched the Europa League. However, after a difficult second campaign where injuries and reduced game time stalled his progress, the 20-year-old is now seeking a new challenge.(Credit @thefrederikkejensen / Instagram)Lucas Bergvall urged to stay despite transfer interestInterest in Bergvall has been widespread, with clubs across Europe monitoring his situation. Arsenal have shown interest in the Swede, while Chelsea could revisit their interest after enquiring about Bergvall during the winter window. Aston Villa also looked at him in January, but is expected to complete sales before making any move.Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on the 20-year-old, while Nottingham Forest may turn to Bergvall should Manchester City complete a deal for Elliot Andersen. With so many clubs circling, the midfielder’s future has become a talking point.Former Sweden international Tomas Brolin has now weighed in, urging Bergvall to ignore the speculation and remain at Spurs. Speaking with Hajper, he said: “I am no agent. I am no advisor. He is good enough to handle it himself. But he has the potential. “I like Lucas Bergvall as a player. And Tottenham, yes, they had a poor year this year, absolutely. But I think many of us hope that they will not have that next year. “So Lucas seems to be settling in well at Tottenham, seems to thrive there. And Tottenham also had a lot of injuries this year, not just Lucas. There were many key players who were injured. There is no team that can handle that. It is not easy to perform, that is just how it is.“Tottenham had an unlucky year with many injuries. So it is just a matter of crossing our fingers for that team that they do not end up in that situation. “So, the best thing for Lucas, who is still young, is probably to be in the same club and get to know them even better and develop there. So I do not think it is any major problem that Lucas remains at Tottenham and continues to develop into a fantastically good football player.”Bergvall’s future remains a concern for Spurs fansTottenham supporters are understandably reluctant to see Bergvall depart N17, given the quality and potential he possesses. At just 20, he has the attributes to develop into an elite midfielder, but regular game time will be crucial if he is to reach that level.Reports from Spurs Web suggest Bergvall’s desire to leave stems from concerns that he will not feature in his preferred number eight role under Roberto De Zerbi. This comes after Tottenham’s £80 million bid for Sandro Tonali was rejected by Newcastle, a move that would have further complicated Bergvall’s position. While many fans want him to stay, other Tottenham supporters have already debated Bergvall’s value, with suggested asking prices ranging between £30 million and £60 million.
