TDN Rising Star Movie Night Impresses Again at Churchill Downs

Wait 5 sec.

WinStar Farm's Movie Night (f, 3, Speightstown–Savvy Star, by Medaglia d'Oro) returned to the site of her most impressive victory to do it again when coming from just off the pace to win by 5 1/2-lengths at Churchill Downs on Wednesday afternoon.Highgrove (Frosted) shot to the front with Movie Night in hot pursuit on her outside hip as the duo raced through a sharp quarter in :22.34. Easily slipping up alongside the 2-1 second choice leaving the far turn, Movie Night inched ahead at the quarter pole while Highgrove fought back along the inside to keep pace. The effort was futile, however, as the 2-5 choice started to stretch her legs in the lane and drew off to score by a geared-down margin at the wire. Wrong Shoes (Street Boss) got up for second while Highgrove held third.Movie Night debuted with a second-place effort behind next-out winner Where Luck Lives (Nyquist) in a 6 1/2-furlong test in the Keeneland slop on Apr. 3. Sent off the 4-5 choice for her next start, the WinStar homebred came from off the pace to become a 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard' with an 8-length win over subsequent victress Epic Proud Mary (Into Mischief) going six panels at Churchill Downs on May 16.A half-sibling to Grade III winner Stellify (Justify), Movie Night is out of a half-sister to GI Haskell winner Bluegrass Cat (Storm Cat) in addition to graded winners Dramedy (Distorted Humor) and Lord of the Game (Saint Ballado). This is the family of the prolific Get Lucky (Mr. Prospector), dam of GISW Girolamo, GSW and GISP Daydreaming, who in turn is responsible for Grade I winner Imagining. This is also the extended family of Kentucky Derby hero Super Saver. 8th-Churchill Downs, $124,183, Alw (NW1X)/Opt.
