Disney World Confirms Fantasyland Area Closure at the Magic Kingdom

There’s been an update in the ongoing refurbishment in the Pete’s Silly Sideshow area of Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park. Here’s what families need to know before their next Walt Disney World Resort vacation.Fantasyland Construction Update at Magic Kingdom ParkCredit: Disney FanaticIn January, the four-character meet-and-greets housed inside the Pete’s Silly Sideshow circus tent closed so the structure could undergo refurbishment. The colorful exterior circus tent, which was torn and faded, was quickly removed, and Magic Kingdom Park guests watched as a new tent roof was installed on the Fantasyland structure.On June 22, WDWNT reported that Walt Disney World Resort had removed the scrim covering the tent walls, revealing that crews had also replaced the worn, faded wall fabric with new bright pink and red material. Crews were spotted working near the Pete’s Silly Sideshow sign, which appears to have been repainted. The support poles attached to the sign have also been refreshed.Construction walls still surround the Pete’s Silly Sideshow building, which has yet to reopen. Banners advertising the four character meet-and-greets offered inside the circus tent were removed from the Pete’s Silly Sideshow sign and have yet to return; they are likely being refreshed like the rest of the structure. There is still some scaffolding surrounding part of the tent walls on the backside of Pete’s Silly Sideshow.Credit: DisneyWalt Disney World Resort hasn’t announced a reopening date for Pete’s Silly Sideshow. The attached merchandise location, Big Top Souvenirs, is also currently closed for refurbishment. The Storybook Circus gift shop is also inside a tent.Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, and Goofy are greeting Magic Kingdom Park guests elsewhere in the Storybook Circus area as Walt Disney World Resort wraps up the Pete’s Silly Sideshow refurbishment.
