If someone is poor and needs childcare, then they need to find a group daycare or perhaps a SAHM mom in the neighborhood who will watch the child at her own house along with her own. But these ads always want someone who will come stay with the child at their house, so the sitter can do essentially nothing all day of their own. If you want someone whose life revolves around taking care of your child, that's a nanny... and you need to be prepared to pay accordingly. That's why it's a luxury and not something most people can afford, not just a single mom earning minimum wage.
