President Trump accuses Iran of lying about IAEA inspections, insisting they will take place “at the appropriate time,” says US can “finish the job” in under a week if Iran refuses to implement deal.By David Rosenberg, World Israel NewsPresident Donald Trump pushed back Tuesday on claims by Iran that the regime has not agreed to regular inspections of its nuclear sites by the United Nations atomic watchdog group, warning that the US will “finish the job” if Iran defies America’s core demands.Speaking with reporters, Trump rejected assertions by senior Iranian officials that Tehran has not agreed to permit International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to conduct regular visits of Iranian nuclear facilities, stating that the inspections are an essential part of any deal.“They’re wrong. They know they’re wrong. They told us inside, and we have it down, 100%. Inspections. And if they were right, I’d cancel the meetings right now,” the president said. When asked when the inspections would take place, Trump said they would be scheduled “at the appropriate time.”“There is no rush. They will be on the ground at the appropriate time.”Trump took a swipe at his conservative allies who have criticized the emerging deal with Iran, including Texas Senator Ted Cruz, saying that opponents of the deal need to be “educated.”“I think anybody that’s been critical of it has to be educated, even if they are friends of mine, because we have Iran in a position that nobody’s ever had.”“This should have been done for 47 years by other presidents. And we have Iran in a position where their military has been totally wiped out, their leadership has been wiped out, their radar has been wiped out, everything has been wiped out. They have not a good negotiating position.”On Wednesday morning, IAEA chief Rafael Grossi confirmed to reporters during a conference in Japan that his agency will play a central role in enforcing the US-Iran deal. The memorandum signed by the US and Iran, Grossi noted, “explicitly states that the nuclear activities that are going to be carried out with regards of the nuclear material facilities will be supervised by the IAEA.”At a rally Tuesday evening in Pennsylvania, President Trump said that Iran has thus far been cooperative in the nuclear talks, but warned that should Tehran shirk its responsibilities, the US would “finish the job” in less than a week.“Iran has been great… if Iran is reasonable, if they’re smart. Otherwise, we’ll have to finish the job, which will take about maybe less than a week,” Trump said.“But they are going to be okay, I think, they are going to do what they have to do because we want to have it done.”“As you know, we just achieved a historic peace agreement with Iran to end the conflict… and most importantly, we are ensuring one thing very importantly because this is why I did it… Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, and they’ve agreed to that.”The post Trump says US will ‘finish the job’ with Iran in one week if talks fail appeared first on World Israel News.
