I remember having to fill out graduation announcements and invites to like, my entire family. Sat down and wrote them all off, mailed them in a timely manner. Most of my family and friends of family didn’t come (most were from out of town anyway), but they all enjoyed my letter and enclosed card. Nearly all of them sent me back a little something. Enough for me to put a down payment on a new (used) car, which is fucking HUGE when you’re seventeen. I also wrote out thank-you cards as well. But that’s because my parents taught me some damn manners. (Also a side note: I am the same age as the person complaining; I’m allowed to be judgy that she isn’t teaching her daughter a basic lesson in courtesy this late in the game.)
