ScreenshotJustice Samuel Alito smacked down his leftist colleague Sonia Sotomayor following today’s landmark ruling on asylum in a move that is surprising court observers. As The Gateway Pundit reported, the US Supreme Court on Thursday sided with the Trump Administration and allowed immigration officials to turn away migrants who show up at the US-Mexico border seeking asylum. In a 6-3 decision, the high court ruled that migrants cannot apply for asylum until they set foot in the United States. The three liberal justices, Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson, dissented.Alito wrote the majority opinion in the case, which reads as follows:In ordinary speech, no one would say that a person “arrives in” a place—for example, a house, a city, or a country—before the person enters that place,” Alito wrote. The context in which the phrase “arrives in the United States” is used in the immigration statutes at issue here supports an ordinary-meaning reading. So does the presumption against extraterritoriality. We therefore reverse.Sotomayor issued a scathing following the ruling, calling the opinion “egregious” and “illogical.”There were 35 total pages in her ridiculous dissent. This was nearly twice as long as Alito’s majority opinion. She read her main dissent (not the entire 35 pages) from the bench, causing the ruling on TPS for Haitian and Syrians to be delayed. After she concluded, Alito jumped in to roast his leftist colleague in impromptu fashion. The conservative justice said he would have added much more to his statements after hearing how long his liberal colleague droned on.He further noted that the policy was used “by two different administrations as a way of dealing with surges” in “an orderly and humane manner.”Court observers noted how “highly unusual” Alito’s move was, just proving how much Sotomayor overstepped. The post Justice Samuel Alito Delivers Impromptu Response to Sonia Sotomayor After She Reads Her Stupid Dissent From the Bench in Landmark Asylum-Seeker Case appeared first on The Gateway Pundit.
