NBC are planning one of the biggest broadcasting events in it’s history for America’s 250th birthday.In their first year back on the MLB broadcasting slate, NBC has something very special in line on Sunday, July 5.NBC are planning something special to celebrate America’s 250th birthdayGettyAll 15 games on Sunday’s slate will be aired on Peacock, their ‘sister streaming service.’The network will handle just two of those games directly, the ‘toiling’ New York Mets and Atlanta Braves, and the San Diego Padres against reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.Games not being handled by the network directly will still be broadcast on local markets as normal.Peacock are also introducing a multi-game viewing option, where viewers can watch up to four games at a time.“There is no home base studio show on the day, but there will be consistency throughout all these presentations in the graphics look,” Rob Hyland, the network’s VP of production said.“We’ll pay tribute to Star-Spangled Sunday. The upper left score bar that you see in our baseball coverage, will be consistent on 14 of the 15 games. “I think the NESN game featuring the Red Sox and Angels will use their own bar, but the theme music will be consistent. “There will be a lot of carry-over on this day as you are flipping from game to game.”NBC’s previous tenure as an MLB broadcast partner ended in 2000, when FOX took over coverage of the biggest games.But last year, the network struck a deal which will see them pay close to $200 million per year for ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ which was formerly broadcast on ESPN.All 15 MLB games will be available to watch on PeacockGettyNBC Sports are in the first of a three-year commitment with MLBGettyWith the addition of the MLB slate alongside its existing NFL and NBA agreements, NBC has officially turned Sunday nights into a year-round home for premium sports on broadcast television.
