Plot twist, I think there’s a reason why Gretchen lives in Japan, as that’s the one of farthest places she can move to, away from her family. She probably chose to vacation in NYC in hopes that her mother won’t be able to afford to visit. I’d be mortified if my mother was begging for money to take a vacation and then had the audacity to set up a GFM.
