“United Airlines Boeing 737-800 N78501 (1)” by BriYYZ, CC BY-SA 2.0On Friday, a scary incident unfolded at Newark Airport in New Jersey.As a United Airlines Boeing 737, carrying 106 passengers and 5 crew members, was approaching its descent at around 4:20 pm from Key West, Florida, the jet narrowly missed colliding with a drone.In audio shared by CBS, the pilot could be heard saying, “We almost hit a drone,” noting the three-foot-wide device was only “about 100 feet below us.”Audio transcript from the cockpit:Cockpit: And we almost hit a drone right there at Gimme, United 1513, about 100 feet below us.Tower: Right where you’re at now?Cockpit: Exactly.Tower: Okay, and United 1513, did you get a look at it? Do you know the color or any— how much propellers or anything like that, whatever they’re called?Cockpit: Yeah, it was like circular-shaped and that was about it.
