Uttar Pradesh is aggressively boosting its renewable energy capacity, aiming for 20,000 MW in two to three years from the current 6,000 MW. Over six lakh families are now energy self-reliant through rooftop solar, significantly cutting bills. The state is also a leader in ethanol and compressed biogas production, with a new Rs 8,200 crore solar manufacturing plant set to bolster domestic production and create jobs.
