Tennessee woman spots boyfriend in another woman’s gym thirst trap. Then she spoke to management: ‘I have power’

A Tennessee woman says she spotted her boyfriend in a viral gym video that she claims featured multiple men being filmed without their knowledge. But she says her outrage went beyond protecting her relationship. Instead, she says she wanted to hold women to the same standard that many expect from men when it comes to respecting boundaries in public spaces. TikTok creator Supasamega (@Supasamega) shared the story in a June, 2026, video that has attracted nearly 720,000 views. In the clip, she describes coming across a post from another creator while scrolling her For You page late at night. According to Supasamega, the video showed a woman recording men at a gym from a distance while they worked out. The caption, she said, encouraged viewers to “just go find your man at the gym.” Supasamega contacted gym management After seeing the post, Supasamega complained to the gym management. “I’m crazy, and I have power,” she said in her post. As a result, Supasamage then claimed that the creator had lost access to the facility. “So now she doesn’t have a gym membership, and she’s banned from all of the locations.” Much of her video focused on what she views as a double standard surrounding gym etiquette and social media content. “My thing is, why would we be holding men accountable as women for being creeps but then not follow the exact same thing?” she said. Supasamega argued that the issue was not simply that her boyfriend appeared in the clip. Instead, she questioned whether strangers should be recorded and uploaded to social media while exercising. “My first thought would be maybe these men have girlfriends, you know, but the most logical thought would be maybe these complete strangers don’t want to be recorded by a stranger and posted online in their safe space where they’re trying to better themselves in the middle of their set,” she said. The story quickly sparked discussion in the comments section, where many viewers echoed her concerns about filming people without consent. “Aside from the fact that it was somebody that was in a relationship can we just normalize not videoing people without their consent? Like it’s weird truly,” one commenter wrote. Another viewer said, “I would literally pay extra to go to a gym that bans people filming.” A third commenter sided strongly with Supasamega, writing, “Actually, I think you’re under reacting.” The gym camera controversy @supasamega ♬ original sound – Supasamega The controversy highlights an ongoing debate at fitness centers across the country. While many gym-goers use smartphones to track workouts, record form, or create content for social media, gyms often maintain policies that restrict filming other members without permission. Many major fitness chains reserve the right to suspend or terminate memberships for behavior that violates members’ privacy or causes discomfort to others. Tennessee law generally permits video recording in places where people do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy. However, gyms are private businesses and can establish their own rules regarding photography and video recording on their property. Those policies can carry consequences even when a recording does not violate state law. But for Supasamega, the issue came down to respect. As she saw it, people who head to the gym to improve themselves should not have to worry about becoming the subject of a stranger’s viral social media post while they’re in the middle of a workout. Supasamega did not identify the gym involved. The allegations have not been independently verified.
