Sebastien Pocognoli is already under pressure to prove himself just four games into his spell as Scotland manager. That’s the view of ex-Scotland star Ally McCoist, who has admitted he is ‘concerned’ following the 2-1 defeat to Slovenia on Tuesday night.Pocognoli has overseen back-to-back Scotland home defeats for the first time since 2019AFPIt’s been a nightmare start to Pocognoli’s spell in charge at Hampden Park – losing two and winning just one of his first four matches.Sitting third in Nations League Group B1, any chance of sealing a promotion spot already looks unlikely. How has Pocognoli fared at Scotland so far?It was only last week which saw Pocognoli oversee an unwanted 55-year first following Scotland’s 3-0 home defeat to Switzerland.Having failed to win in his opening two games – becoming the first Scotland manager to do so since 2008 – he has now added more unwanted records to his name.Scotland, who have lost to Slovenia for the first time in their history, have now been defeated in back-to-back games at Hampden Park for the first time in seven years. They had led 1-0 at the break courtesy of Ryan Christie’s 31st minute strike, only for Aljosa Matko and Danijel Sturm to compound another miserable night for the Tartan Army. And for McCoist, who scored 19 times in 61 games for Scotland between 1986-1998, he declared the future doesn’t look bright under their Belgian boss. What has McCoist said about Scotland?Speaking on the Sports Breakfast show, McCoist was asked by co-host and fellow ex-Scotland international Alan Brazil as to whether they can beat North Macedonia in their first game in November’s international break. To which he suggested that Pocognoli could already be packing his bags in the near future. He said: “Yes [Scotland can win], but I think the jury is out longer term, I think Macedonia are probably the worst team in the group.”Scotland look set to remain in Group B of the Nations League having won just one of their four matches so farGettyMcCoist then continued: “Listen, it’s still very early days in his tenure, clearly, we will give him time and so we should.“I was encouraged with the second half [0-0 draw away at Slovenia], I was encouraged watching the comfortable victory against North Macedonia away.“But the two home games, particularly last night, because whether we want it or not, you probably got a wee excuse/reason for the Switzerland game where there was a sending off for [Jack] Hendry early on in the game.“But I was more concerned about last night.“Because the signs… even when we went 1-0 up, I wouldn’t say it was against the run of play, but they certainly looked [more] livelier in forward areas than we did.”What did Pocognoli say after Scotland’s defeat to Slovenia?Pocognoli – Scotland’s second-ever foreign boss – declared his side deserved nothing against Slovenia as he stated they lacked bravery and were second best in every department.A defeat against North Macedonia next up for Scotland would see them lose three home games in a row for the first time in their historyGettyHe told BBC Scotland: “We didn’t deserve to get the win, that’s the reality.“We didn’t deliver a great game, on the ball and off the ball we were below the level we expect.“We were not proactive enough, on and off the ball. Probably the structure off the ball needs to be more proactive, front-footed to push the line higher.“On the ball we were not clever enough. We were far from strong enough in the duels.“It’s a process about being brave, trying to defend forward and we were not compact in our defensive shape.“The reality is each game teaches us some information. We will try to go through the process we want and learn from this one and do better in the next one.”
