Manchester United wanted to sign Myles Lewis-Skelly during the last transfer window after the Englishman appeared to have lost his place in the Arsenal team.Lewis-Skelly had impressed in midfield towards the end of last season, but he initially broke into the Arsenal side as a left back. That is the position United wants him to fill at Old Trafford.Luke Shaw is getting older, and the Red Devils believe Lewis-Skelly could become their long-term solution at left back. Chelsea also showed interest in the Englishman, but he chose to remain at the Emirates and fight for his future.United continues to monitor himLewis-Skelly has since demonstrated that he is a dependable player for Arsenal and England. The Gunners are pleased with his progress and performances this season, particularly after he established himself in midfield. However, Caught Offside reports that he remains one of Manchester United’s targets, alongside Lewis Hall of Newcastle United. Hall continues to play at left back and is reportedly the Red Devils’ leading option for the position.Manchester United still admires Lewis-Skelly because of his versatility. If he moved to Old Trafford, the club would reportedly use him at left back, despite his recent success in midfield.(Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images)Arsenal may resist transferLewis-Skelly’s ability to operate in defence and midfield makes him particularly attractive to United. He could provide two solutions with one signing and would also offer considerable room for development.Arsenal, however, has little reason to sell him. The teenager remains an important part of Mikel Arteta’s plans and has shown that he can contribute in more than one position. The Gunners would also be reluctant to strengthen a direct Premier League rival. Lewis-Skelly’s preference is believed to be remaining in north London, where he can continue his development and compete for regular football.United may therefore need to make a substantial offer to test Arsenal’s resolve. Unless his situation changes significantly, the Gunners are likely to retain the academy graduate and continue using his versatility to their advantage._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
