Marvel fans have spent months wondering exactly how dangerous the next Avengers battle will become, and one longtime MCU star isn’t doing much to calm those fears. With Avengers: Doomsday (2026) bringing together heroes from across multiple universes, the massive crossover already feels built for consequences. Now, Sebastian Stan has offered a rather ominous tease about what audiences could be walking into when the movie finally arrives.Sebastian Stan Has a Warning for Marvel FansStan, who returns as Bucky Barnes, previously addressed Avengers: Doomsday (2026) while appearing at Tokyo Comic Con. Although he carefully avoided revealing actual plot details, his choice of words immediately caught fans’ attention.“I don’t know if I can say very much about that,” Stan said. “I don’t know what’s going to happen. We’ll see who makes it or who doesn’t.”Stan then pointed toward Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom, saying the actor will have “something in store for everybody.”That certainly isn’t confirmation that Bucky—or anyone else—is going to die. Still, “see who makes it” isn’t exactly the kind of phrase that makes Marvel fans feel comfortable.Disney describes the movie as putting heroes from three universes on a “deadly collision course” against an existential threat. Bucky joined Yelena Belova, John Walker, Red Guardian, Ghost, and others before the group emerged publicly as the New Avengers. For Bucky, that created an interesting new chapter. After spending years dealing with what Hydra did to him and struggling to determine where he belonged, he suddenly had another team.Unfortunately, Marvel has repeatedly shown that popularity doesn’t guarantee survival.Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff both died in Avengers: Endgame (2019), proving Marvel will sacrifice major characters when the story calls for it.And that brings Bucky’s future into question.Credit: Marvel StudiosCould Marvel Really Kill Bucky Barnes? It would hurt, but Marvel absolutely could.Bucky has been part of the MCU for roughly 15 years, giving his death enough history to carry real emotional weight. He also has connections to several corners of the franchise, especially Steve Rogers and the newer Avengers lineup.A heroic sacrifice could complete his long redemption arc, particularly if Bucky gives his life to protect others after spending so many years haunted by the lives he was forced to take. There is another reason fans are nervous: Avengers: Secret Wars (2027) follows one year later.Marvel could use Avengers: Doomsday (2026) to dramatically reduce its enormous collection of heroes before moving the survivors into the Multiverse Saga’s final battle.None of that means Bucky is doomed. Stan’s comments could simply be playful teasing designed to protect Marvel’s secrets. But he certainly gave fans a reason to worry.Credit: Marvel StudiosBucky Isn’t the Only Hero Who Could Be in DangerIf Marvel wants Avengers: Doomsday (2026) to carry the emotional weight of Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), Bucky isn’t the only veteran character who could face a heartbreaking ending.Chris Evans is officially part of the cast, bringing Steve Rogers back into the Avengers story. Chris Hemsworth is also returning as Thor, another hero whose MCU journey stretches back more than 15 years. Then there are the returning X-Men veterans.Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, and Kelsey Grammer are among the confirmed cast members, creating the possibility that Marvel could give some of these longtime characters one final major battle.Rumors have gone even further.Tobey Maguire has repeatedly been linked through online speculation to another appearance as Spider-Man after returning in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). However, Marvel has not confirmed Maguire for Avengers: Doomsday (2026), so any talk about him returning for one last fight remains rumor rather than fact. With so many longtime Marvel actors involved, almost anyone could become an emotional target.Credit: Marvel Studios‘Doomsday’ Could Leave Marvel Fans HeartbrokenWhether Bucky Barnes survives Avengers: Doomsday (2026) remains one of the movie’s many unanswered questions.Stan didn’t confirm his character’s death, and Marvel certainly isn’t going to reveal something that important before audiences sit down in theaters. But Doctor Doom isn’t gathering generations of Marvel heroes together for a small fight. The MCU is approaching the conclusion of its Multiverse Saga, and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027) waits on the other side.Bucky could fall. Steve Rogers, Thor, or one of the returning X-Men could face the same danger. Marvel may have entirely different heartbreak waiting that nobody sees coming.Regardless of whether Bucky survives, Stan’s warning makes one thing increasingly difficult to ignore: Marvel appears ready to give fans some heartbreaking moments, and not everybody may walk away from this battle. The post Marvel Star Sebastian Stan Hints at Fatal ‘Doomsday’ Ending: “See Who Makes It” appeared first on Inside the Magic.
