Roberto De Zerbi continues to believe in a Tottenham forward, who has come in for plenty of criticism over the last few weeks.Spurs’ struggles in attack have received plenty of column inches since the start of the season, and while Roberto De Zerbi has not been helped by the injuries to some of his attacking players, many of his forwards have also underperformed.New signings, Savio and Omar Marmoush, are yet to show that they are worth what Tottenham paid for them, but the bigger problem is the form of Mathys Tel, who has come in for huge criticism. The Frenchman was even left out of Tottenham’s matchday squad for their 3-2 loss to Aston Villa, just before the international break. He was then left on the bench for the 1-1 draw with Man United.Credit: @thatfootballphotog / InstagramRoberto De Zerbi still believes in the qualities of Tottenham forward Mathys TelAccording to a report in Foot Mercato (as relayed by Sport Witness), the Spurs boss continues to have faith in the former Bayern Munich man, despite his major struggles this season. The report claims Tel was expecting this to be his breakthrough season in the Premier League, especially due to the trust that De Zerbi has shown in him. However, he has experienced a difficult season so far, and the website suggests the forward’s form has been affected by Tottenham’s struggles as a team. The outlet claims Tel is now short of confidence, but concludes that he needs to repay his manager’s faith in him soon if he is to succeed at N17.Spurs have no interest in selling TelThe Tottenham forward scored five goals in four games for France U21 during the international break, and in the process became the joint highest goalscorer in history for Les Bleus.Tel often looks too good for youth football, but he is yet to showcase that he is capable of consistently performing at Premier League level.According to a recent update by Football Insider, Tottenham have no intention of listening to offers for Tel in January, with De Zerbi making it clear to the club that he wants the Frenchman to stay. That suggests the Spurs head coach and the decision-makers at the club are convinced of the 21-year-old’s talent, but the big question is whether he can translate that to performances at the highest level.READ MORE: Tottenham squad will fly out to Spain after Man Utd clash for team bonding campThe post Roberto De Zerbi 'has faith' in Tottenham attacker who has five goals in his last four games appeared first on Spurs Web.
