A couple I knew and liked did something similar to me a few days after a close family member passed. I’d not met them for a few years before but the husband did know about the family member’s passing. The wife calls me when she otherwise never bothers being in touch, I had people cover condoling with us so I didn’t take the call. Thinking she was calling to condole I called her the next day. She acted as though she didn’t have a clue about our loss and when she found out half heartedly condoled before asking me for $300. She had to gaul to say to lend her the money only if it wouldn’t spoil our friendship! I said I’d think about it, then messaged her saying I couldn’t lend her the money due to expenses on my side. She responds with ‘no problem’. Never heard from them again.
