How to make an employer want you/ need advice on what to do.

Wait 5 sec.

So I (22f) live in a rural town and work in healthcare (cna since 16) i absolutely love healthcare however. I have been trying to get a job at the hospital in my town/ county since I moved here at 19. I have had several interviews at said hospital have had even more countless applications. Even a meeting with the CEO to sit down and ask why I am not getting hired on. I’ve been a tech at a hospital an hour away for over a year now, and the one the next town over for about 5 months. When I first moved here I got on doing home health, long story short that ended me with a bad reference due to not knowing anyone in the area at the time and unfortunately a miss communication with my boss and the clients family. Because of a call in on my half. I will also say I was lazy at this time and did not work for a company that provided any training or explanation on what I needed to do at every home. So that fell on the family’s expectations on what they thought I should do but zero communication from the families and me on what I was to do while with their loved one. However now over 3 years later am wrapping up nursing school and in my last 6 weeks of it. When I had my meeting with the ceo she stated that due to my one bad reference and the fact that I had different references on different applications that they thought I was trying to cover something up or be dishonest. Which was never my intention. I just wanted them to have as many good references as possible. Now I have put in an application for the hospital in my hometown for my current position as a NA / clerk and the job response says “no longer considered” I am really struggling with this as I cannot sustain driving an hour for work and the current hospital I work with is a place that I would not be able to keep up with coming to due to our rent house being sold and having to move even farther once my schooling is finished. Which would put me over an hour from my original workplace and my current workplace would be around 50 mins from our next home and there are no other hospitals anywhere closer to that in my area. Home health, dialysis and any other jobs for nurses are done by the hospital monopoly of our county hospital so now I just am struggling on what to do. Do I apply again once I have passed and have a license number? Do I just keep driving? The county hospital is really struggling with nursing staffing at the moment due to the nurses going elsewhere for work. Moving out of the county is not an option due to my husband (24M) having a stable secure job with amazing benefits that we cannot get anywhere else. Also his grandparents living here and mom and dad. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It just feels pointless to have done all of this work for what I really love if I won’t be able to use it. submitted by /u/Tiny-Cry2150 [link] [comments]
