Roberto De Zerbi admitted that his Tottenham players did something at Old Trafford that he has been calling for since the start of the campaign. While Spurs are still waiting for their first win of the Premier League season and remain at the bottom of the standings, their performance against Man Utd was undeniable proof that they are in a false position. The away side completely dominated proceedings during the first-half, with Michael Carrick’s side struggling to get a foothold in the game.It appeared that a familiar script was unfolding when Tottenham failed to convert their chances, and United took the lead in the 73rd minute, but Spurs fought back to equalise in stoppage time despite being down to ten men.Credit: @thatfootballphotog / InstagramRoberto De Zerbi admits that Tottenham played as a team for the first time this seasonThe Spurs head coach was delighted with his side’s display, even though it was not enough to take all three points.De Zerbi admitted that for the first time this season, he saw his players perform as a unit, both offensively and defensively, rather than as a set of individuals. The Italian told Football.London: “For sure, we didn’t deserve to lose the game, we deserved to stay one, two goals up in the first half. We suffered in the second half, especially in the first part, and then when we conceded the goal, we had five minutes before, two minutes before, potential chances as well to score.“Then after the red card, we showed the right reaction, but we played a great game, I think we are playing well, not [just] today, also the other games before Manchester, but today has been the game where, for the first time in this season, we showed to be a team.“We played for the team-mates, we played together, we believed until the end of the game, we stayed inside of the game, in every situation, and we attacked as a team, we defended as a team, and the right football behaviour.”De Zerbi expects training camp in Marbella to build team spiritThe Lilywhites now have a nine-day break before they take to the field next against Coventry City, and the Tottenham squad will fly to Marbella for a warm weather training camp.De Zerbi confessed the camp is not only important in terms of training as a group, but also in bringing the players closer off the pitch and making the squad a tighter unit. When asked about the training camp in Spain, he said: “Yes, because we have to build the team. Now the target is to build the team, not the group of players. We are a great group of players, but we are not a team yet.“Today, this game, we show to be a team. And to be a team is to play for the teammates, suffer together, attack together, defend together, the players who come inside five minutes, three minutes, like Mateus Fernandes, they have to play like they are in the first XI, without problems, without other thoughts. And we have to find the balance between the confidence in ourselves and to be hungry in the training and in the games.”When asked if it is important for the players to socialise together, he said: “To stay together, yes. To work together, to stay together, to go for dinner together, to know better each other, because to be a team you have to know your teammates, and to stay together.”READ MORE: Dominic Solanke says Tottenham should have been 3-0 up at half-time vs Man UnitedThe post Roberto De Zerbi reveals what Tottenham will be doing on Marbella training camp appeared first on Spurs Web.
