Tea,,Part 2 — I saw my crush/best friend’s DMs, and now I don’t know how to look at her the same

Wait 5 sec.

This is a continuation of my previous post: “I’m attached to my female friend, but her flirting with other guys is killing me. What should I do?” So… something happened that completely messed with my head. My crush/best friend recently went through a breakup. I already knew about this guy she had added on Instagram before the breakup. He lives in a completely different city, neither of us has ever met him in real life, and apparently they had been talking for some time. A few days ago, she handed me her phone and went away for a while. And yeah… I know what I did was wrong. I checked their DMs. I know it was her privacy, and I shouldn't have done it. I take responsibility for that. But what I saw genuinely broke something inside me. Their conversations were extremely flirty and filled with se\*ting. And the worst part? This was happening even while she was still in a relationship. I saw messages from around 10 days before her breakup. I just sat there staring at the screen thinking, “What the hell am I reading?” I had spent so much time thinking that she was this sweet, innocent girl who had been hurt and betrayed by her ex. I was actually blaming her ex for everything and feeling terrible for her. But now I'm realizing that the situation was much more complicated. Apparently, this random guy from Instagram was already in the picture while she was still with her boyfriend, and from what I saw, their conversations had crossed way beyond normal flirting. I honestly cried that whole night. Not because she's talking to another guy after her breakup — she's single now and obviously has every right to talk to whoever she wants. It's the fact that she was doing this while she was still in a relationship, and I had a completely different image of her in my head. I'm confused as hell. Should I continue being friends with her and try to separate my feelings from her actions? Or should I distance myself completely because I'm clearly way too emotionally attached to her? And for anyone who went through something similar — how do you actually move on from someone when your entire perception of them changes overnight? I'm not trying to control who she talks to. I just don't know how to process what I saw and still have the same feelings for her. **Guys please help me ,I am literally crying my eyes out , so please** submitted by /u/__Beastboy__ to r/20sIndiaReal [link] [comments]
