This site allows you to practice placing an ultrasound-guided IV on a simulated arm. You scan for a vein, compress it to tell it from the artery, pick a catheter, then move the probe and needle 1mm at a time and keep the tip on screen until it’s in the vein. The clip is sped up. At the end, you get a debrief: whether the tip went out of view, any complications, etc. It has short and long axis, a hard case mode (e.g. small, deep, rolling veins, edema, artery right under the vein) and works on your phone. It can’t teach the hands-on part, so think of it as practice for the steps and reading the screen. Free sample patient at ultrasoundivtrainer.com. submitted by /u/runtheboard [link] [comments]
