A 44-year-old man from Santa Luċija has been arrested after a car was allegedly used to smash into a shopfront in Paola before items were stolen from inside.Police said officers on patrol in Antoine De Paule Square noticed the shop’s broken window at around 2.40am on Thursday.Investigations indicated that a Toyota had driven into the shopfront before a person got out of the vehicle, allegedly stole a number of items and fled.Police later found the Toyota abandoned in Xintill Street, Tarxien, and discovered that the vehicle itself had allegedly been stolen from Tarxien shortly before the burglary.Investigators then identified a second vehicle allegedly used by the suspect after abandoning the Toyota. It was located in Santa Luċija with the suspected burglar inside, and the man was arrested.He is being held at the Floriana Police lock-up and is expected to be arraigned at around 11am today before Magistrate Nadine Sant Lia.•
