I’m a solo dev. Back in August I built the first version of AirMirror Pro in two days and three nights, because the Windows options for AirPlay were either bad or subscription-based. It mirrors your iPhone to your PC, lets you control the phone with your mouse and keyboard over Bluetooth (nothing to install on the iPhone), and records it. Where it is now 680+ installs on the Microsoft Store, about 1.8% uninstall rate 3 Pro purchases, $29 total. I dropped the price from $14.99 to $5.99 and sales picked up 0 crashes reported, 1 rating so far (5.0, which tells you how early this is) What I learned Check the OS before blaming your own code. Mirroring fell below 10 fps after a minute, and I assumed my encoder was at fault. It was Windows delaying TCP ACKs, and one socket option fixed it. Test the output in the app people will actually use it in. My 3.1.1 recordings played fine in a media player but had no sound in Premiere. I now open a fresh recording in an editor before every release. A new app from an unknown dev needs a low price. I dropped Pro from $14.99 to $5.99. One sale in the two weeks before, two in the three days after. Small sample, but it was enough to keep it there. Shipping is half the work. Usage spikes right after each post and drops back between them. Nobody finds a Store app on their own, so posting regularly matters as much as the code. 3.2, out today Free: AirPods battery panel (each pod and the case, plus on-head detection for AirPods Max), Ctrl as Command while controlling the iPhone, minimize to tray, 24 languages. Pro ($5.99 once, no subscription): iPhone notifications on the PC with replies to texts, which stay out of recordings and screen shares. Mirroring and iPhone control stay free with no time limit. Microsoft Store I’d like feedback on two things: how to get from install to purchase without nagging people, and whether the notifications feature is something you’d actually want. submitted by /u/Jonathanproductions [link] [comments]
