ETH/USD: Bounce Into EMA55 Resistance, Downtrend Still Owns 2,56Ethereum / U.S. dollarBITSTAMP:ETHUSDbrokerchampionofficialETH's rallied back near 2,531 after reclaiming the lower band, but the structure's still bearish on the 4H. The trend backbone (EMA55) sits at 2,562.80 and price is pressing right into it from below, while EMA21 at 2,522.64 is already behind us. The last confirmed break of structure was bearish at 2,650.88 roughly 36 bars ago, and the swing high at 2,739.50 is still open overhead. Band positioning is upper-half, so there's room before we get stretched, but the volatility envelope caps near 2,575.90 — basically overlapping EMA55 resistance. Why it matters: this is the classic retest of a broken market after a bearish BoS. Price pulls back into the EMA55 / band-upper confluence, trend bias remains Downtrend, and bulls need a clean 4H close through that zone to flip the script. Until then, every push into 2,560-2,575 is a seller's opportunity to defend the trend. The setup activates on reaction at 2,560-2,575. A rejection candle with EMA55 holding would re-engage the downtrend. Alternatively, a 4H close above 2,580 with acceptance would neutralize the bearish BoS and open the door back toward the 2,739.50 swing high. Invalidation for the bearish continuation idea: a confirmed 4H close above 2,580, which would mean EMA55 and band upper have both given way. Targets if the rejection holds: 2,469.37 — band lower, first magnet; 2,406.11 — the open swing low that's still intact; 2,358.88 — window low, where real capitulation would show up. Setup: Watching reaction into the 2,560-2,575 EMA55 and band-upper confluence after the bearish BoS at 2,650.88. Invalidation: A 4H close above 2,580 cancels the continuation idea. Targets: 2,469.37 — band lower, first magnet · 2,406.11 — open swing low still holding · 2,358.88 — window low, deeper flush
