Once upon a time, Varkeys was the most elite store in town, the place rich people went for imported goods, hot meat puffs, and ghee cake. Over time, it expanded everywhere and became an everyday neighborhood staple for all of us. Then, around 2010, the entire chain vanished almost overnight.
