Michael ‘Venom’ Page has put money and his relationship with KSI as the main driving factors behind his Misfits Boxing signing. On Saturday, the crossover promotion co-founded by influencer KSI announced Page as the latest addition to its roster on a three-fight deal, a month after he was cut from the UFC despite going 5-1.Page won five of his six UFC fights – but the promotion opted against re-signing him due to poor performancesGettyPage had initially expressed his desire to re-sign with the UFC after being booed during what would be his final fight in France in early September. However, he suggested UFC brass were unhappy with his performance, given it was the last fight of his contract, in his points win over Nursulton Ruziboev.Having also been criticised six months prior after another decision victory against fellow Briton Sam Patterson, Page’s position in the UFC was under threat despite being ranked in two different divisions. And UFC CEO Dana White confirmed Page wasn’t being re-signed after being removed from the rankings following his win over Ruziboev. However, the 39-year-old is now in a new chapter of his esteemed combat sport and is feeling relieved he’s ‘free of the shackles’ in the UFC.In his first words after his signing, Page said Misfits was the ‘right fit for me’ as ‘they’re doing things differently,’ and he has now expanded on the reason why.Page admits Misfits paying more than UFC“It’s a shame for MMA,” Page, who was present at Misfits Fight Night in London on Saturday, told The Stomping Ground.“I got to the top of where you can get to in terms of being in the UFC and then I left there and I made more money.“That should tell you enough. The fact that they’re able to give me the package that they’ve given me is amazing.“But then also it’s family as well. I’ve worked [with KSI] at London Shootfighters [MMA gym] and we’re also friends.Page has trained with Misfits co-founder KSI at London Shootfighters numerous timesGetty“If I can be a part of something and do it with people that I love and care for, that’s my ideal situation and the best scenario for me.“It means I’ve got freedom again. I can even suggest things and they’re like, ‘Yeah, I love it. Let’s go.’ I can already feel the energy that they want to work me.”Who could Page fight next?Page named Tommy Fury and legendary fighting brothers Nick and Nate Diaz when asked about potential future opponents.Interestingly, he has said he is open to both boxing and MMA for his next fight, with Misfits hosting events in both sports. However, one thing that Page won’t be involved in is some of the craziness that is usually associated with KSI’s promotion. He said he has ‘already shown that side of me’ and will ‘leave the Misfits side to the Misfits guys.’Page named Fury, who beat former Strongman Eddie Hall at a Misfits event in June, as a potential future opponentGettyFighter pay drama continuesPage’s comments follow an outburst last week from UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland, who has threatened to leave the promotion and fight Jake Paul over a pay dispute.Fighter pay has been a controversial subject for many athletes over the years now and Strickland is reportedly asking for more money to defend his title.Page has previously criticised UFC fighter pay and believes athletes deserve more, especially after the promotion’s landmark $7.7billion broadcast deal with CBS and Paramount. He felt ‘disrespected’ that the UFC never offered him a new deal due to the number of wins he picked up since debuting in March 2024.It is believed Page also had offers from Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and bare-knuckle promotion BKFC, where he has previously fought.talkSPORT's UFC pound-for-pound rankingstalkSPORT.com has collectively voted on the best fighters to form a regularly updated UFC pound-for-pound (P4P) rankings system for the rest of 2026 and beyond. Our P4P list will be updated regularly based on performances in the Octagon — with wins, records, title wins and defences, calibre of opponents, methods of victory and much more all determining who makes it.UFC champions Islam Makhachev, Joshua Van and Sean Strickland feature – but big stars such as Alex Pereira and Tom Aspinall miss out.
