[Hiring] Watercolor character design for 2 otter brothers, original graphic novel (Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees vibe) | Budget: $225

Hi everyone! I'm developing Bevy Family Lodge, an original one-shot graphic novel with potential to grow into a mini-series. I'm looking for an artist to design the first two characters in the cast. This is a paid starter commission, and if the style is the right fit, I plan to bring you back for the rest of the cast and the book itself. The story: When a brutal territorial encroachment by beavers claims the life of an otter, a peaceful family is thrust into an irreversible war for survival. Four grieving brothers are consumed by revenge, and the one surviving voice of reason has to stop his kin before they destroy themselves. What I need (per brother): - Front, side, and back turnaround in clean lineart or flat color - 3 expressions (grief, rage, and restraint), lineart or flat color is fine - Color palette callouts - 1 full-body painted piece in watercolor (traditional or digital watercolor) Art direction: My main reference is Patrick Horvath's Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees. Soft watercolor, warm woodland setting, animals in everyday clothes, and real darkness living underneath something that looks cozy. The painted pieces are where I most want to see that feeling. Secondary reference is PB&J Otter, for how a family of otters can still have clearly different silhouettes and personalities. The brothers need to be easy to tell apart at a glance, so I'd love to see how you'd approach that. Style inspiration only. All characters will be 100% original. NO AI. Human artists only. No AI-generated, AI-assisted, or AI-traced work of any kind. I'll ask for sketches and WIPs along the way. Details: - Budget: $225 for both brothers ($150 if you'd prefer to start with one) - Timeline: 4 weeks - Usage: Commercial. These designs will be used in a published comic, so I'll need full commercial rights to the character designs. - Payment: [PayPal invoice, 50% upfront / 50% on delivery] To apply, comment or DM with your portfolio (anthro and watercolor work especially), and your availability. Thank you! submitted by /u/Available_Cable_3065 [link] [comments]
