and consumerism...and your wallet most times. They figured out early they could get more, and better quality than I was willing to pay for new. I bought new underwear, and was willing to buy new shoes and sports gear when needed. When I could get a hand me down parka for swimming I did, until I could get their VERY oversized one so it would last for years.
