I am a sexual assault advocate in a town with a decent amount of resources. Several hospitals and medical groups. Theres obviously the same issues that exist in healthcare across the board, but this is not an area where you have to drive out of town to see a gynecologist, if that makes sense? We have SANEs at one of our hospitals and TeleSANE at another. I know they are training more nurses at the hospital with SANEs. At the other hospital, they have a SANE on a screen kind of directing an untrained nurse (no shade!! Just wanted to differentiate between the two) through the exam. For any nurses who get directed through a SAFE exam by an on-screen provider, how do you feel about doing those exams? Is it something you receive any training for (even if it’s not the full SANE training)? I run the hospital advocacy program through the nonprofit I work at, so I work with the nurses informally but I’m affiliated with the hospital itself. And for obvious reasons I don’t get much time to sit and chat with the nurses. submitted by /u/badgrll675 [link] [comments]
