Does anyone else's Genesis starts consuming a bit of oil by the end of their oil change interval?

Wait 5 sec.

So my Genesis is a BK2 3.8 with around 56k miles. I normally do 4000 miles oil change intervals since I got it at the beginning of the year. Both last oil change interval and the one I'm currently on showed signs of oil consumption, but only when the oil is a little used up, like around 3000 miles. Last oil change, I put in the Mahle and Clevite filter, 5w30 Vavoline restore and protect, a magnetic drain plug and cleaned the Pcv valve. Also checked my oil catch can and it looked fine, with only around a ounce of fluid in there. I sent an oil sample to Blackstone, stating that my engine burned a small amount of oil, like a quarter of a quart and they said it was normal and that I had 5 ppm of silver which could be rod bearing material but nothing to be too concerned. I refilled the oil at around a quarter inch over the dot and checked it regularly. It never went down, until I reached around 3k miles where it was at the dot, drove 200 miles and it was 1/8 inches under the dot. I just topped off and kept an eye on it. Can't seem to find a general consensus on the topic. Some say burning a quarter of a quart in 1k miles is normal, other's saying the opposite. Anyone else in a similar situation as mine? submitted by /u/ShortSalt to r/genesiscoupe [link] [comments]
