Gold Pattern Clash: Macro Top Stalling Out While a Base FormsGoldOANDA:XAUUSDROW_PartnersTaking another look at gold after the weekly close, and things are getting really interesting here. Right Chart: In previous looks, we flagged that big macro Head and Shoulders top threat. While the structure is visually still on the board, that right shoulder is dragging on and taking way too long to roll over. When a right shoulder stretches out like this instead of dumping straight into the neckline floor, the bearish urgency starts fading fast. Time symmetry is falling apart, and what looked like heavy distribution is beginning to look more like lateral absorption. Left Chart: Zoom into the daily action and you will see why sellers cannot get any real traction. Price continues to ride right on top of that key ascending trendline, white line we have spoken about before, anchored all the way from the base. Right above that diagonal support, an Inverse Head and Shoulders has quietly formed. The head bottomed right on the trendline, and the current consolidation is carving out a clean right shoulder with momentum showing clear higher lows. What about yields: Macro yields also offer a quiet tailwind here. Even without pulling up the chart, short end yields on the two year have been pulling back inside a descending channel rather than breaking out higher, which takes immediate pressure off gold. Conclusion: If price can punch through the local neckline of this inverse setup, it completely puts the big bearish top on ice and opens the door for a push back toward recent swing highs. As long as that white trendline holds underneath, the slight edge belongs to the buyers. GLD TGtg!
