Simultaneously explosive-effusive activity in the summit area: lava flow from the NE Crater (left), strombolian explosion from the NW Crater (centre) and SQ Crater (right) (image: Jens Schnemelich)During the ongoing Italy's Volcanoes tour, the group visited the volcano again. At about 06:30 PM local time, a new, short lava overflow emerged from the Northeast Crater. Several hot rock falls tumbled down from the flow front to the sea.Small to moderate strombolian explosions have continued alternately from both craters, characterized by glowing lava bombs thrown to the upper Sciara del Fuoco. At about 08:00 PM local time, a minor eruption also occurred from the Southwest Crater. The activity has been accompanied by constant emissions of water vapor, gases and small amount of ash, drifting towards the southeast. The explosive-effusive eruption at Stromboli on 11 October (image: Jens Schnemelich)
