The thing that scares me most about the mining & smithing remake is that if you make smithing useful at all, it will be **incredibly** accessible. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. Hell, they have 0 proposed changes atm, so it's way too early to say "no, I don't want this update" imo. But given that smithing is one of the fastest skills in the game, I really hope they keep in mind when they suggest any new items. Yes, gold smithing costs money, but you can also make good gp smithing too. If you alternate 2 hrs of gold with 1 hr of steel, you make >200k xp / HR and slightly profit at today's rates. I keep seeing people complaining about the lvl gap between defense and smithing, but nobody seems to remember to mention that smithing is **way** faster than defense training, which is usually a lower priority than the other combat skills anyways. A new t70 armor set competitive with Bandos could easily become the new meta if they're not careful about what it takes to make, because 70 smithing is so easy to get compared to bosses that drop t70 armor (I know Bandos is 65 defense I'm just rounding here). Again, I'm not against an overhaul, smithing is not very useful. But between this and having to monitor PvM drop tables, I hope Jagex is careful moving forward with anything submitted by /u/Zanian to r/2007scape [link] [comments]
