HOW-TO: Compare opening ranges with ORCE-mini S&P 500 FuturesCME_MINI:ES1!AuctionFoundryOpening Range Comparison places the latest opening range beside the previous recorded session's range. This walkthrough explains how to set the comparison up and read it without treating its labels as predictions. 1. Choose the chart and opening window Use standard minute candles on a 1 to 60 minute chart. The chart shown here is CME_MINI:ES1! on 15-minute candles; the opening-range window is 09:30–09:45 New York. Chart interval and opening-range duration are separate settings. ORC can measure 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes; 15 is the default. Auto anchors futures at 09:30 New York and other symbols at their regular-session open. Use Custom when you need a different session or time zone, or Auto has no regular-session anchor. 2. Read the dates before the numbers PREVIOUS means the preceding recorded session, which may be separated by a weekend or holiday. LATEST means the most recently recorded opening range; before the next open it still refers to the prior session. This capture compares Friday October 9 with Monday October 12, 2026. It is a setup illustration, not a current trade recommendation. Both range profiles use one common price grid. High and low tags show the actual range prices. If you move the panel vertically, read those tags and the placement note rather than treating the relocated drawing as a level on the price axis. 3. Check whether the range is forming The latest range accumulates closed 1-minute bars while its opening window is open. A table note such as Forming 7/15 identifies an incomplete range. The previous measurements and profile use the same elapsed minutes for comparison. The previous opening-type label still uses its full completed range; the latest label remains undecided while forming. Do not interpret an incomplete seven-minute range as a completed fifteen-minute result. 4. Compare measurements, then placement Start with high, low and range size. Then compare volume and the position of the latest range against the previous one. The table's placement description tells you whether the ranges overlap or sit apart. Last-price distance is a current reading that can change after the opening range has finished. The Butterfly and Twin candles layouts present the comparison differently. Neither changes the meaning of PREVIOUS and LATEST. 5. Keep estimated delta in context Estimated delta adds the volume of 1-minute candles that close above their open and subtracts the volume of those that close below. Unchanged candles contribute zero. It does not measure actual buying or selling at bid and ask. Volume by price spreads each minute's volume across that bar's range. It appears for opening ranges of 15 minutes or longer. Both displays are estimates from bars, not transaction-level order flow. Opening type is also a rule-based description of observed bars and prior completed daily context. Open-Drive, Open-Test-Drive, Open-Rejection-Reverse and Open-Auction are labels, not forecasts. If the comparison is unavailable Check that the chart uses a supported interval and that the required sessions and opening-range minutes are available. Missing data cannot be reconstructed. Gaps inside an available range are measured from the bars present. Practical reading order: dates and anchor → forming or complete → high, low and range → volume → placement and distance. These are descriptive chart measurements, not signals or evidence of an edge. Script demonstrated:
