I hadn’t told a single person about my Mac app. Someone bought it anyway.

Wait 5 sec.

This afternoon my phone buzzed: “Your first sale is in 🎉” I hadn’t launched Nap, my Mac screensaver app, or told anyone about it. A stranger found it and paid $5 anyway. So I guess it’s launch day. What Nap is: a small Mac app that installs and manages screensavers that are actually nice to look at. Six so far: Flip Clock: a retro flip clock bouncing around DVD-logo style Football: a slingshot fires a ball that bounces off the edges, then fires again from wherever it stops Paper Plane: flies over a map trailing a dotted route, and can skywrite your message Puzzle Cube: scrambles itself one turn at a time, then solves itself Pendulum Wave: pendulums drift into waves and snap back in line every minute Plotter: a pen draws harmonograph figures, one after another Each has speed, size and style settings with a live preview, and new screensavers install automatically as I add them. Details: 2-day free trial, then a one-time $5. No subscription. macOS 13+, Apple silicon and Intel. Built solo: native Mac app, licensing through Dodo Payments, downloads on Cloudflare R2. It isn’t notarised yet, so the easiest install is a single Terminal command on the site (the script is plain text, so you can read it first). Would love feedback, and ideas for the next screensaver 🙏 🔗 trynap.app submitted by /u/MrScanner_ [link] [comments]
