Man United vs Tottenham Premier League preview, team news, score prediction

Two managers who are starting to feel the pressure at their respective clubs will face off on Saturday, as Tottenham travel to Man United desperate for a first win.It is a horrible feeling to enter a three-week international break on the back of a defeat, made even worse by having to look at the Premier League table and see your club sitting rock bottom. Unfortunately, that is the reality for Tottenham Hotspur supporters at the moment.Roberto De Zerbi‘s men finally ended their historic run of four opening Premier League games without a goal when Conor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke scored late consolation goals in a 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa before the international break. It is fair to say De Zerbi is starting to feel the pressure, especially after the club placed their faith in him during the summer transfer window and spent close to £400m on the players he wanted to bring in. The results, however, have been nowhere near good enough.Manchester United boss Michael Carrick also finds himself in a similar position. Although his club spent less than half of what Tottenham did over the summer, the pressure is mounting on him too, with his side managing just one win in their first five league games. United entered the international break with a last-minute 1-1 draw against Fulham and will be desperate to get back to winning ways at Old Trafford.Photo by SpursWebWhat time does Man United vs Tottenham kick off?Location: Manchester, EnglandStadium: Old TraffordDate: Saturday, 10 October 2026Kick-off time: 5:30pm BSTReferee: Stuart AttwellVAR: Jarred GillettTottenham team newsTottenham had a couple of injury scares during the international break involving their centre-back pairing of Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke, both of whom returned from international duty with injuries. However, De Zerbi has confirmed that both defenders are available for Saturday.Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert, Mykhailo Mudryk, Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski are the confirmed absentees, although the latter two will still travel with the squad to Old Trafford.De Zerbi has cleared James Maddison to play, but also revealed that the midfielder missed a few days of training yet again due to a fitness issue. We believe we will have to wait a little longer to see Maddison make his first start for the club.Manchester United team newsManchester United’s injury situation has also changed over the international break. Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui returned from their respective international duties early through injury, while Karl Darlow, Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford and Benjamin Sesko were forced to withdraw from their national team call-ups for the same reason.Carrick has not cleared any of those players to feature on Saturday. Matthijs de Ligt, Manuel Ugarte and Amad Diallo, are the other confirmed absentees.Carlos Baleba, who joined United from Brighton for £65m in the summer, could finally make his first appearance for the club in this fixture. Carrick offered an encouraging update, saying, ‘he’s trained a lot and is improving’.Predicted Tottenham line-upKinsky; Gray, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Udogie; Fernandes, Tonali, Gallagher; Kudus, Solanke, Savio.De Zerbi hinted that he will take into consideration the players who have endured long international trips when selecting his starting XI. He mentioned Rodrigo Bentancur, who travelled to Japan, South Korea and India over the last three weeks before making his way back to London. That is a lot of travelling, which is why we expect the midfielder to be rested on Saturday. The No.10 position is another interesting talking point. When asked whether Maddison could finally make his long-awaited start for the club, De Zerbi said: “The way is to complete three, four, five weeks in a row without problems, without feeling pain, without feeling problems. And then he is a normal player.”However, the head coach also brought Gallagher into the discussion, adding: “Also Gallagher, I think he is playing well, especially in the last two games, Liverpool and Villa.” That is precisely why we have gone with the England international in the No.10 role in our predicted line-up.Further forward, Mathys Tel and Omar Marmoush both enjoyed productive international breaks, managing seven goals between them. There is a good chance either could feature from the start. Our Spurs score predictionManchester United might have the slightly better form on paper, but there is one statistic worth keeping in mind: they have managed just one victory in their previous nine meetings with Tottenham.Spurs are certainly the more desperate side for all three points, and we are backing them to come away with a much-needed victory at Old Trafford.Mateus Fernandes could be the difference-maker. The midfielder turned down Manchester United in favour of joining Tottenham in the summer, but has yet to show his full capabilities under De Zerbi, having been deployed in the unfamiliar No.10 role this season. This could finally be the game in which Fernandes gets to operate in his preferred and more familiar No.8 position, where his ability to carry the ball forward and link up play could prove crucial.Predicted score: Manchester United 1-2 Tottenham HotspurREAD MORE: Tottenham and Man United combined XI based on this season makes for sad reading – Spurs WebThe post Man United vs Tottenham Premier League preview, team news, score prediction appeared first on Spurs Web.
