He was 75.More than 1,000 people gathered to pay their final respects and bid farewell to the man affectionately known as “Nana” or “Nanaji”, who passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning in Goa. Many waited for several hours under the hot sun. An elevated platform was constructed for the funeral pyre, while a tent was set up for dignitaries. The remains were then transported by road to the farmhouse in Donje. Known for his deep concern for farmers and rural communities, he co-founded the Naam Foundation in 2015 along with actor Makarand Anaspure, in response to the devastating drought conditions affecting farmers in Maharashtra. Through the foundation, he worked to support drought-hit communities and farmers across the state.
