England and Tuchel not to blame for Scott’s injury, says Rose

Marco Rose said Alex Scott would be a "big loss" for Bournemouth after being injured on international duty, but he said the blame did not lie with Thomas Tuchel and England. Scott became just the second Bournemouth player to start a match for England after Callum Wilson in 2018 during the Three Lions' 7-0 win over Croatia in the Nations League. The 23-year-old impressed before he was replaced in the 70th minute at Stadion HNK Rijeka, though it has since been confirmed he was struggling with a thigh injury. It has now been revealed Scott could be out for up to a month with the issue, which is a huge blow for Bournemouth and Rose ahead of their return to Premier League action. Bournemouth have been reported as being unhappy with Scott's involvement against Croatia, though Rose said the only thing that mattered was he played well for England. "It's an injury to a muscle, and we'll do pictures [scans] in some days again," Rose told reporters. "But we're going to miss him, for sure, for four or five weeks. I'm very disappointed and it's a big loss."Did he have an injury before? No, I think not. I think the club have already said everything about it."For me, it's disappointing. We miss a very important player, but I don't want to blame anyone. We are very happy that he made his debut for the English national team."He did well, and we just hope that he gets fit again quite soon."https://t.co/1oAVnp51jS— AFC Bournemouth (@afcbournemouth) October 3, 2026Only Kobbie Mainoo (40) and Lewis Hall (38) have won possession more times in the Premier League this season than Scott (36), who has also won the most ground duels (30) and covered the fifth-most distance (57.7km) in the competition in 2026-27.Bournemouth make the trip to Stamford Bridge this Saturday to face Chelsea, with the Cherries one of only three Premier League sides yet to win this season. Rose's side have gone winless in five to start a Premier League campaign for only the second time, after 2023-24 (D3 L2 in both). The German is the second manager to fail to win their first five top-flight matches with the Cherries, alongside his predecessor Andoni Iraola (first nine). However, three of Bournemouth's four Premier League wins against Chelsea have come away from home, with those three victories their only clean sheets at Stamford Bridge. The post England and Tuchel not to blame for Scott’s injury, says Rose appeared first on SoccerNews.
