Does this surgeon dislike nurses or why did she make this comment? Was she being an a-hole?

Wait 5 sec.

Hi all. I’m not a nurse, but a patient. I had a procedure under sedation today and I was so grateful with how nice the nurses were. Anyway, before they put me to sleep, the surgeon/doctor was asking me some questions and at some point I mentioned something about my doctor. So she asked me what the name of my doctor was, to look them up on her computer, and then she said: “(so and so) is not a doctor, she’s a nurse, do you know what the name of the doctor in the clinic is?” And so I said I didn’t know, because the person I usually see is this nurse (whom I adore and knows a lot btw). She even went to the website of the clinic and then said: “oh, so that you know, there are a lot of doctors at that clinic, in case you want to see a doctor.” At that point, I wasn’t understanding what was happening or why, so I looked at the nurse who was by my side and said “I don’t understand” It was a weird interaction. The only reason I actually felt comfortable was because the two nurses were going to stay in the room during the procedure and they seemed very compassionate. But this doctor gave me a pretty bad vibe for some reason. Also, English is not my native language, so maybe I misunderstood the situation? Like, why would I see a doctor if I’m already an established patient with my nurse practitioner. Maybe this other surgeon was annoyed because I called my NP a doctor? It’s not a big deal, but I was curious to know if this is something common and wanted to get the opinion of other nurses. submitted by /u/adhd_pile_manager [link] [comments]
