What features matter most to you when converting STL meshes into editable CAD?

Wait 5 sec.

Hey everyone! I'm currently developing ShapeAnywhere, a browser-based CAD application. One of the features I'm spending a lot of time on is Mesh-to-CAD conversion. The goal is to reconstruct editable CAD geometry from existing mesh models, so users can modify dimensions and features instead of rebuilding everything from scratch. There are still technical challenges to solve, especially when it comes to complex geometry, reconstruction accuracy, and editing the resulting CAD features. I'd really like to hear from people who regularly work with STL files. Which of these would be most useful to you? Changing dimensions of existing features Editing holes, chamfers, and fillets Adding new sketches and extrusions Recovering the original design intent Faster conversion of complex models Or is there something else you'd consider essential? I'm interested in real-world use cases and honest feedback! Project: https://shapeanywhere.com submitted by /u/EntertainerSilly4199 to r/ShapeAnywhere [link] [comments]
